Tree & Bird String Wall Art
Our partner manages several handicraft enterprises and helps other groups sell their products in local and foreign markets. Our partner and its enterprises provide jobs for poor rural women. By providing jobs for women, they improves women’s standard of living and helps them send their children to school. The organization provides skills development training to artisans. They create and promote income–generating projects that benefit the artisans, adhere to good safety and environmental standards, and have the potential to become self–reliant.
With every item purchased with us, a tree is planted in partnership with the National Forest Foundation.
String art has its origins in the 'curve stitch' activities invented by Mary Everest Boole at the end of the 19th century to make mathematical ideas more accessible to children. It was popularized as a decorative craft in the late 1960s through kits and books.
