Our partner is a nonprofit organization that provides income generation and marketing services to Vietnamese artisans. During recent years, they have established themselves as the primary marketing agent for artisans from neglected families and women. It practices a model of social development in which social service cannot be separated from economic self-reliance. Their sales fund various community development activities, including clean water projects, vocational training equipment purchase and teacher wage subsidies. Artisans receive social and health insurance, and can apply for scholarship funds.
With every item purchased with us, a tree is planted in partnership with the National Forest Foundation.
Vietnamese pottery and ceramics has a long history spanning back to thousands of years ago, including long before Chinese domination, as archeological evidence supports. Vietnamese potters combined indigenous and Chinese elements, but also experimented with both original and individual styles as well as incorporated features from other cultures, such as Cambodia, India and Champa.
Vietnamese ceramics were an essential part of the trade between Vietnam and its neighbors during pre-modern times through all the dynasties.
