Nomad Tablet Case
Our partner works in cooperation with producers, suppliers and partners on improving the ecological and social balance in their value chain and to support social entrepreneurship projects in Kyrgyzstan. Since founded in 2013 in Berlin, our partner has been making design products from natural and locally sourced materials in Kyrgyzstan. They ensure decent working conditions for their craftspeople as well as premium quality and design for their clients.
Handmade using locally sources wool. With every item purchased with us, a tree is planted in partnership with the National Forest Foundation.
Felt from wool is considered to be the oldest known textile. Many cultures have legends as to the origins of felt making. The story of Saint Clement and Saint Christopher relates that while fleeing from persecution, the men packed their sandals with wool to prevent blisters. At the end of their journey, the movement and sweat had turned the wool into felt socks. Feltmaking is still practiced by nomadic peoples in Central Asia, where rugs, tent, and clothing are regularly made. Some of these are traditional items, such as the classic yurt, while others are designed for the tourist market, such as decorated slippers.
